
Leon Harris is an American journalist and newscaster. Born in Akron, Ohio, Harris is the son of Leon Sr. and Lorrene Harris. He has three brothers, Marcus, Jerry, and J.J.; and a sister, Kimberly. His father is a former newspaper reporter and is still active in the media today. He has a long list of accomplishments, and his career has been quite successful.
In addition to his position as anchor on News4 at 4, Harris spent many years in CNN. He began his career in the technical side of the business and worked his way up to anchoring morning shows. After the 1995 terrorist attacks, he began covering news events globally. He covered the Oklahoma City bombing, the O.J. Simpson trial, the attacks of September 11, and the 2000 elections. He was honored twice with the National Cable Ace Award.
During his career, Harris has worked at several television stations in Washington, D.C., and Atlanta.
Prior to joining News4 at 4 at WRC-TV, he worked for CNN in technical roles. Later, he anchored morning programs on CNN, where he won two National Cable Ace Awards. His work has been featured in several publications. In addition to his journalism, Harris enjoys social media, and posts frequently on Twitter.
In addition to his television work, Harris has a successful personal life, which has included a successful marriage and a healthy family. He and his wife Dawn live in Avenel, Potomac, Maryland. He is the co-anchor of News4 at 4 with Pat Lawson-Muse. He also reports on News4 at 11 in Washington, D.C. He began his career at CNN world headquarters in Atlanta. While there, he worked as an entry-level video journalist and eventually became assistant director of satellite operations.
Born in Akron, Ohio, Harris graduated from Biola University and the Talbot School of Theology.
He has a doctorate in theology from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, and is a former CNN reporter and TV executive. His career was not a perfect fit for him. He made several mistakes that led to him becoming an honorary doctor. In addition, his wife, Dawn, helped him achieve this goal. He now lives in Avenel, Potomac, Maryland. He is also married to Dawn Lomax, who is a nurse. His children are his only source of happiness, and they are his life. Despite the difficulties, he has managed to maintain a balanced life.
He is a National Merit Scholar, and he attended Ohio University.
He went on to work at CNN, where he found his passion in television. He spent the next twenty years learning the technical aspects of the industry and gained invaluable experience. He also built his reputation as an expert brewer in the mid-Atlantic region. He is a former U.S. Air Force pilot, and he has served as a brewer at Port City Brewing Company in Alexandria, Virginia, for the past eight years.
